Authentic Brass Miner’s Lamp
Here we have a lovely 10″ Authentic Brass Miner’s Lamp in stock and on display in our showroom here at Authentic Reclamation. This is a high quality, very well machined example from E. Thomas and Williams Ltd, Aberdare, Wales, serial number 46494. E. Thomas & Williams of Aberdare, South Wales started production in 1860.
This Authentic functional Vintage Brass miners lamps are designed by the manufacturers of the famous ‘CAMBRIAN’ approved Flame Safety Lamp. Because the lamps are solid materials and not plated you can also have them personally engraved with the recipient’s name, a special event or date, and even your company logo.
Miners safety lamps were traditionally used to provide illumination in coal mines and were designed with an enclosed flame to operate in areas which may contain coal dust or gases. They also became a good way of measuring methane in the mine atmosphere.
Today they are often used as marine lanterns or as wall mounted oil lamps in the home. Also referred to as Davy lamps, they are beautifully made and are very wind resistant. These mining lamps are not intended as a safety lamp in real mining situations, but are fully functional for personal use.
