” The Portuguese Green Marble Dining Table

The Portuguese green marble dining table was brought in 1962 by my farther-in-law Mr. Randolph S. Churchill for the dining room at his house. Stour at East Bergholt Suffolk.

It was one of three tables that were brought over from Portugal.

Randolph had heard that HRH Prince Phillip had bought one of them for HM The Queen for Windsor castle. He Arranged to but the other two.

When the dining table was delivered to him at Stour, he was shown two sample bases and asked to choose the one that he wanted. The choice was never made and the table still has its two sample bases!
